NATIVITY SCENE OF TIME
ZEITKRIPPE
Nativity Scene Of Time

Nativity Scene Of Time

When the time had fully come, God sent his son...
Galater 4, 4

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3, 1-8

And I continue with:
A time for Christmas trees and a time for Nativity Scenes,
a time for church buildings and a time for church congregations,
a time for Ministers and a time for preachers,
a time for the child in the manger,
a time for the man on the cross,
a time for the risen one
and a time for all peoples.

And at the end of time:

In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel...
Isaiah 17, 7

Look he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the people of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1, 7-8

And all who have waited will rejoice when they see him, JESUS:

We know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
1. John 3, 2

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
...
He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen, Come, Lord Jesus.
Revelation 22, 17+20

Nuremberg, Autumn 2001

PRINTVERSION (PDF)

The outline of this crib scene, an octagon - expressing completion and harmony - was used in early christianity for many churches and baptismal chapels.
e.g. the cathedral of Aachen

The main colour used in this scene is white:
A sign for the "wedding clothes" (Matthew 22,12) or the "white robes" (Revelation 6,11).

The stall and the cross arranged perspectively to set off the central part, as if they were the manger's wide opened "arms": "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11,28)
